Daily Stretching Program
At Taurus, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to prevent on-site injuries from occurring. One of the often overlooked ways to prevent on-site injuries is simply to prepare your body for the upcoming workload by implementing a Daily Stretching Program. At the beginning of each shift, all staff, craft, and contractors are led by a supervisor through a range of motions that warm up their muscles and bodies.
One of the greatest benefits of stretching is that you’re able to increase your range of motion, which means your limbs and joints can move further before an injury occurs and can incur a greater amount of muscle stress. Post-exercise stretching can also aid in workout recovery, decrease muscle soreness, and ensure that your muscles and tendons are in good working order. The more conditioned a worker’s muscles and tendons are, the better they can handle the rigors of sport and exercise, and the less likely that they’ll become injured.
Based off a survey of 315 construction workers conducted by Research Gate, 98% of those asked believed that a daily stretching program helped prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders. That’s straight from the men and women on the front lines who believe daily stretching is helping them prevent injuries. Does your company have a daily stretching program? Do you think it benefits you and your fellow workers? Let us know!
