Taurus Officially Named Contractor Of The Year In The Heavy Civil Category
Last night was Alberta Venture’s Contractor Of The Year Awards Gala and what a fantastic night it was! It was great to see so many faces from around the industry out there and we wanted to congratulate everyone who was nominated or won!
After we were named the Contractor of the Year in the Heavy Civil category, we had a moment to say a few words, which we think sums up our feelings on the entire thing pretty well. Here is that speech:
“Before our company started in 2006, Taurus was something of a dream. It was the coming together of over 80 years of construction experience and liked-minded leaders in their field to create the best Heavy Civil construction company that we could imagine. A company that not only builds the community it lives in, but supports it through our personal time and real company initiatives, like our NAIT Athletic Scholarship, the Fort Saskatchewan minor girls’ team, Atom Fury, or our ALS Society of Alberta sponsorship.
In just over 8 years, Taurus has grown to over 175 employees and has been a part of some extraordinary projects, from the Northwest Redwater Partnership, one of the most significant energy sector projects in Alberta’s recent history, to the Eastern Alberta Transmission lines.
Now to the thank yous. First, we want to thank Alberta Venture for putting on this incredible event every year and showcasing the men and women who are out there everyday, in the trenches, building our communities. It’s an honour to accept this award on behalf of Taurus in a room filled with such a roster of distinguished guests and companies. We would like to thank you all for making our communities one of the best places to live in the world. Next, we want to take a moment to thank the community itself, the city, our families, and everyone who worked or who has ever worked for Taurus and who has supported our phenomenal growth over the years. You’ve made everything we’ve accomplished possible and we’ve been very fortunate to have found ourselves in such a community as this. Thank you.”
